By Divya Kumar The newly appointed interim president of Florida A&M University has called on senior leaders of the state’s only public, historically Black college or university to resign, two weeks before the start of the fall semester. Timothy Beard, who was confirmed as interim president at the end of July, sent a letter Monday asking for resignations by the end of Tuesday. The university provided a copy of the letter but did not immediately provide a list of recipients. The Tallahassee Democrat reported the athletics director was among those who were asked to resign. By Zeke Miller Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign on Sunday was launching “Republicans for Harris” as she looks to win over Republican voters put off by Donald Trump’s candidacy. The program will be a “campaign within a campaign,” according to Harris’ team, using well-known Republicans to activate their networks, with a particular emphasis on primary voters who backed former U.N. Courtesy of Gadsden State Community College Gadsden State Community College, a historically Black institution in Alabama, has launched a new medical assistant program. Susan Thrasher has been selected to serve as the program’s inaugural director. The new academic program consists of five semesters of study. Once the curriculum and experiential learning training requirements are completed, students can take a certification test from the National Board for Medical Assisting of the American Association of Medical Assistants.
