Hurricane Tammy strengthens close to islands
Hurricane Tammy had 85 mph winds on Saturday, making it a Category 1 hurricane. It could bring up to 8 inches of rain to the Leeward Islands before moving away later this weekend. It's not expected to threaten the continental U.S. but could bring up to 2 inches of rain to Puerto Rico.

Hurricane Tammy strengthened slightly on Saturday as it doused the Leeward Islands with wind and rain.
